Shin was born and raised in South Korea with a desire to study in the States, it wasn’t long before he reached age 15 and moved to Oregon where he stumbled upon a theatre opportunity during high school. After receiving his high school diploma he accepted an offer at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and moved to New York City. There he attended for one semester before ultimately transferring to his desired school, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he's currently enrolled as a senior in musical theatre working to make his dreams come true!

As an actor, he's had the pleasure of working in both large and small-scale productions with the added benefit of having participated in assisting with other components involving lighting and sound. When performing musicals in Oregon, he regularly found myself being one of the only Asians in the entire cast. It was then when I realized the harsh reality of there being a huge lack of Asian representation in the theatre industry. While discouraging, it’s what kept him motivated to keep pursuing musical theatre, so that others who may look like him would have more courage, hope, and inspiration to step forward and follow their passions as well. As time went on his observations only grew more stark not only noticing a disparity in Asian actors, but also Asian creative teams, Asian stage crews, etc, all in short supply. With the right role models and representation, even if behind the scenes, he's confident that will close the divide. As an aspiring actor and artist, he wants to contribute to the theatre world, to make his mark, so it can be challenged, changed, and perhaps even go in a direction where more people of all skins, backgrounds, and minds should feel seen, heard, and most importantly included.
